Woodside Foundation Stage.
Dear Parents/ carers,
Welcome to Woodside Community School and to Reception. This academic year is going to be a very exciting and busy year. This term our topic is ‘All about Me’ we will be inviting you into school to join us for a tea party and to join in with a variety of exciting activities so you can see all the wonderful things we have been doing. An invitation will be sent to you nearer the time.
The staff in Reception who you will be seeing on a daily basis are:
Miss L Hingley: Foundation Stage manager and RH class teacher.
Mrs R Wood: RSW teacher on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Miss S Spicer: RSW teacher on Monday and Tuesday.
Miss M Cowell: HLTA based in Reception.
Mrs J Tromans: Teaching assistant based in RW.
Mrs A Westwood: Teaching assistant based in RH.
This term we are making changes to our learning environment, the outdoor learning environment is undergoing a makeover in the near future so please be patient with us whilst we transform the Reception playground.
We are introducing a Family Library this year. Once a week at 8.40 we will invite you and your child to access our library. You can choose a book together that you wish to enjoy at home, we also have a selection of jigsaws and educational games that you can choose. Next week we will send home letters to state the day that you can visit the family library.
Your child will be participating in PE on a Friday. Can I ask that your child has their PE bag with labelled kit in school by Wednesday 14th September. On your child’s PE day can you please ensure that they are not wearing earing or jewellery, thank you.
In Reception we believe that a strong, positive parent link is important during your child’s time with us. At the beginning of the day the class teaching assistant will welcome your child on the door, at the end of the day your child’s class teacher will dismiss. Can I please ask that if you wish to speak to your child’s class teacher you do this at the end of the school day as I am sure that you will appreciate mornings are very busy and we need to ensure our children are safe whilst the door is open. This term you will also be invited to attend Parents Evening; this will give you the opportunity to talk about your child and ask any questions you may have.
Can I please ask that you provide your child with a bag of clean clothes that they can leave on their peg. This is to ensure that if any accidents do happen your child with have items of clean clothing to change in to. If we do send soiled items home with your child can you please ensure that they are washed and returned as soon as possible.
In the next few weeks your child will be coming home with a reading book and a home task book. A letter will be sent home with these items providing you with information on how they work.
Keeping your child safe is very important at Woodside; can you please ensure that you return the collection and password letter by Wednesday 14th September; if you require another copy please ask a member of staff.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of staff if you have any further questions regarding the content of this letter.
