Year 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Yours Class Teachers are Mrs Millar (5M) with Teaching Assistant Mrs Nation, and Miss Attwood and Miss Yarnall (5AY) with Teaching assistant Miss Clinton.

Our Topic for this Half Term is Great British Heroes!

We will be focusing on the novel 'Outlaw' by Michael Morpurgo, which tells the story of Robin Hood. We will also be looking at other famous heroes such as King Arthur and The Highwayman!

PE Days

PE days are Thursday (indoor, both classes), Friday (outside, 5M) and Tuesday (outside 5AY).

Please ensure long hair is tied back and any earrings are removed on these days. It is helpful if girls wearing tights have a spare pair of socks in their PE bags, and may bring a pair of leggings/joggers.

Please ensure your child has a full, named PE Kit in school, including PE pumps as this will enable them to take part in the curriculum.

Please ensure all uniform is labelled, especially jumpers and cardigans which they may take off during the day.

Other useful information

Planners need to be in school every day. They will be signed by class teachers regularly. They will also be needed for spellings, timetables, computer passwords and as part of our wider learning.

Children will be responsible for changing their home reading book on a regular basis. this will also be monitored by teachers.

Homework

Spellings will be set using the lists in the planners every Wednesday. They will then be tested the following Wednesday (usually 10 spellings per week).

We will set online SPAG homework (www.spag.com) every Monday. This will need to be completed by the following Monday. This can be completed on a computer, tablet or I-pad. the children will have an individual log in which is recorded in their planners.

Maths homework will be given out every Friday and will need to be  returned by Wednesday in order for it to be marked.
