Welcome to Year 2!
Your class teachers are:
Mrs Sankey (2S)
Miss Moseley (2M).
This year our topics will be:
London Life (Great Fire of London)
London Life (Victorians)
PE Days are Tuesdays (indoors) and Thursdays (outdoors).
Please ensure long hair is tied back and any earrings are removed on these days. It is helpful if girls wearing tights have a spare pair of socks in their PE Bags.
Please make sure all of your child's clothing is named, especially jumpers and cardigans which they take off during the day. This is also very important for PE kit when all the children get changed at once!
Reading regularly at home is of paramount importance to support your child's development. We recommend 10 minutes each day where practically possible. The more familiar the books are, the more pleasurable reading will be for your child. Just like favourite films that are watched over and over again, books can be read more than once too. This will help your child to become really familiar with the printed words on the page and begin to recognise them off by heart, just like all the words they know from their favourite film. Hearing stories regularly (i.e before bedtime), will also develop their skills, as they will hear what storytelling should sound like.
Pupil Planners are also Reading Records, and there is a list of Year 2 common words to read and spell. Planners must be in school every day as they are used to support your child's learning and record any messages.
Spelling tests are weekly and new spellings are given out at the end of each week.
Please see below useful website links to support your child's learning at home:
Topic homework is set weekly, please refer to the homework booklet in your child's homework book. The homework booklet is also available below.
Family Projects are a fun way for your child to teach you, what they have learned and are learning about in school. Please look out for the family projects set throughout the year and have fun being creative with your child in showcasing their learning.
Completion of home learning will significantly help the development and progress of your child at school. Thank you for your continued support.
